Elizabeth Ann Webb White, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and niece joyfully entered the gates of heaven on January 5, 2013, under the care of Hospice at her home in Marathon, Florida.
Her husband and daughters were by her side. Born on October 30, 1932, Elizabeth was one of seven children of Pearl Gregory Webb and Ezra Webb.
She was preceded in death by siblings Frances Webb, Ruth Webb, Nancy Barnett, Billie Feltner, and Jimmy Ray Webb.
Elizabeth grew up surrounded by family in Sibert, Kentucky, where she was a member of the Horse Creek Baptist Church, pastored by Reverend Denvis Rush. Her mother was a homemaker and owner of The Peoples Store; her father, an educator and Superintendent of Clay County Public Schools.
Reverend Francis Walters presided over the marriage of Elizabeth and Jack Langdon White in Manchester, Kentucky, on June 23, 1953, where she later became and remained a member of Manchester Baptist Church, leading Girls in Action and teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School.
Elizabeth enjoyed many of her friends as a member of the Manchester Younger Woman's Club. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in home economics and taught at Clay County High School, going on to become the Food Service Director for Clay County Public Schools and retiring after thirty years of service.
Elizabeth was a proud and supportive wife to Jack as he co- owned and operated White's Chevrolet-Pontiac, Inc. She was always a devoted basketball fan, particularly the Clay County Tigers and the Kentucky Wildcats.
In the late 1980s, following rewarding careers and the rearing of three daughters, Elizabeth and Jack retired and made their second home in Marathon, Florida, where she resided until her death. While living in Florida, Elizabeth adored attending the First Baptist Church of Marathon. Without a doubt, Elizabeth's happiest times were spent with her husband, family and friends on her balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. As the years went by, this balcony became the stage and she the audience as her grandchildren would perform and catch up with her each time they visited.
First and foremost, Elizabeth loved her Lord and her church, followed by her husband and family.
Surviving Elizabeth are Jack, her cherished husband of sixty years; precious daughters, Rosanne (Rade) Veljkovic of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Scarlett (Andy) Ryan, and Liza (Francis) Thomas of Winchester, Kentucky; treasured grandchildren, Jack White (Davis) Veljkovic, Langdon Stites Ryan, Sydney Haydon Ryan, Anne Chandler Thomas and Mark Francis Thomas; great grandchild, Jack White Veljkovic; sister, Clara Joyce Lyttle; and maternal aunt, Cleo Gregory Sisson.
Visitation followed by a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Manchester Baptist Church.
