Obituary for Jewel Baker of Manchester, Kentucky

Jewel Baker, age 93, of Manchester, Kentucky passed away Sunday January 5, 2025, at AdventHealth in Manchester. Jewel was born on April 1, 1931, a daughter of the late Fred and Betty (Rogers) Winchester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Baker.

Jewel was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and a retired cook and lunchroom manager at the Laurel Creek Elementary School. In her younger days one of her favorite things to do was to cook big Sunday meals for the family. As she grew older, she enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, afghans and any other thing she could think of. Her most recent hobby she enjoyed was "cruising" the backroads and sometimes getting lost with her son in law "Uncle Glenn." She liked to talk about her daily excursions and stories from her childhood. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Robert Baker and wife Bonnie, Beverly Robinson and husband Glenn, Ann Sibert and husband Johnny and Michael Baker and wife Linda.

She also leaves her grandchildren, Amanda Allen and husband Kevin, Adrienne Bray and husband Aaron, Andrew Baker and wife TeRae, Sarah White and husband Bill Ed, Rayanna Baker, Tayton Baker, John Wiley Sibert and Grayson Baker.

Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Amelia Bray, AJ Bray, Ace Bray, Mason White, Hazelee Jewel White, and Brooks Baker.

She also leaves a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jewel was preceded in death by these brothers and sisters, Sudia Thompson, Mae Thompson, Luther Winchester, Johnny Winchester, James Arthur Winchester, Beulah Smith, Laura Winchester and her daughter in law, Charlotte Walker-Baker.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Gideons International.

Funeral Services for Jewel Baker will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Britton Funeral Home in Manchester with Ken Bolin and John Wiley Sibert officiating. Burial will follow at the Coldiron Cemetery in the Laurel Creek community.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 10th from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour.

The Pallbearers will be Andrew Baker, Tayton Baker, John Wiley Sibert, Aaron Bray, Kevin Allen and Bill Ed White; and Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Sibert, Glenn Robinson, Mason White, AJ Bray, Ace Bray, Grayson Baker, and Brooks Baker.
