Eva Cottongim Jones, age 95, passed away February 23, 2025. She was born on February 1, 1930, to William and Nancy Jane Sawyers Cottongim who preceded her in death.
She leaves behind two daughters: Elizabeth Vaught and Sally Smith. 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, plus other family and friends to cherish her memory.
Eva was a loving caregiver to her family and friends. She was a very good cook, especially her biscuits and chicken and dumplings.
Nothing was more important to her than her family. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved each of them deeply.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings Jones, a son Kevin Jones, a daughter Regina Crump. As well as her sisters, Bytha, Mary, Judy, Pauline, and Etta Mae and her brothers, Ladel and Randolph.
Services for Eva will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 2nd, at Britton Funeral Home, with Craig Cottongim officiating. Burial will follow in the Bob Jones Cemetery on Beech Creek.
