Stephen Wayne Roberts, age 48, of London, Kentucky, departed this world for his heavenly home on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida.
Stephen was born in Corbin, Kentucky, on Monday, August 16, 1976, to Wendell Roberts and Betty Sharon Smith Roberts. Stephen grew up in Manchester, Kentucky, where he attended Horse Creek Baptist Church as a child. He was a member of Crawfish Pentecostal Church in Manchester, Kentucky, and Measure of Faith Church in East Bernstadt, Kentucky.
Stephen was a barber for 25 years and the owner of a cosmetology school. He attended Campbellsville University for welding and became a licensed welder. He was a carpenter, excavator operator, a client care navigator, and an advocate for drug addiction. In whatever career he pursued, Stephen exceeded expectations and always went above and beyond. He found his true passion and calling while working in drug rehabilitation. He dedicated his life to helping others. Stephen volunteered in the community, assisting in feeding the homeless, at Goodwill Centers, VOA, and drug awareness events.
Stephen battled drug addiction over 20 years. One day, while at a rehab facility, Jesus spoke to his heart, entered his life, and forever changed him. The Lord gave him one of the greatest testimonies you will ever hear. God placed a calling on his life to help the broken, lift up those who were suffering, and share his testimony with the hopeless. Stephen always had a huge heart, and God used him for that purpose. God gave him an unconditional love for anyone suffering with addiction and mental health issues. He devoted his life to helping people find the resources and treatment they needed to succeed in recovery, and the opportunity to share the love of Christ with them. Stephen preached many times about the fruits of spirit and the importance of sharing the love of Christ with everyone every day. “The love of God changes people.” He showed people love every day and with every opportunity he was given.
Stephen is survived by the love of his life, Diane Roberts, whom God truly joined together; his Uncle Terry & Jennifer Roberts of London, Kentucky, Aunt Jewell Roberts House of London, Kentucky; his siblings: Glenn & Mindy Roberts of LaFayette, Georgia, Mark & Melissa Roberts of London, Kentucky, James Michael & Jennifer Roberts of London, Kentucky; his children Lucas Roberts of London, Kentucky, Lane Roberts of McKee, Kentucky, Lauren & Michael Bunch of London, Kentucky, Michael & Megan Nelson of Corbin, Kentucky, Steven & Katie Beth Nelson of London, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren: Gabriel Bunch, Emma Bunch, Lexi Bunch, Isaac Bunch, Maddox Nelson, Miley Nelson, Landry Nelson, Logan Nelson, Avery Nelson; 10 nieces and nephews: Cody Roberts, Macy Williams, Thomas Roberts, David Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Sharah Roberts, Andrew Roberts, Peyton Roberts, Dalton Roberts, Ava Roberts.
