Mr. J. P. Hillier Stivers, age 84 of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Manchester, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, November 8, 2013.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from TVA with 27 years of service and a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Civil Engineering. Preceding him in death is his parents: Franklin and Louise Stivers, his brothers: Franklin, Bertram, Dorsie, and Atwood, and his sister: Toulene Dezarn.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and childhood sweetheart of 61 years: Jewell Stivers, his daughter: Dr. Deann Stivers Allen and her husband James of Manchester, his granddaughters: Carolyn Ann Allen of Louisville, Kentucky, and Mary Jewell Allen of Manchester, his sister: Sophia Stivers and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Beverly Park Place for their kindness during his stay.
The Stivers family will receive friends on Monday, November 11, from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted with military honors on Monday, at 3 PM at the Sizemore, Stivers, and Reid Cemetery with Rev. Tim Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Sizemore, Stivers, and Reid Cemetery in the Greenbriar Community.
