Elbert Stewart age 90 went home to be with the lord May 7, 2014.
He was a preacher for over 55 years and a coal miner for 35 years. He was a beekeeper and loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Beech Creek and Gregory Branch Holiness Church.
He is survived by the following children: Kenneth Stewart, Manchester, Jerry Stewart and wife Pamela, Lexinton, Charles Stewart and wife Elizabeth, Nicholasville, Betty Henson and husband Carl, Manchester, and Irma Henson and husband Herles, Waco, KY.
He is also survived by the following grandchildren Carla McQueen, Patricia Hughes, Kimberly Jones, Melaney Sizemore, Michelle Stewart, Shannon Gaines, James Stewart, Tyler Stewart, and Thomas Cordell Gum and the following great grandchildren: Logan Sizemore, Braiden Gaines, Ethen Hughes, Peyton Hughes, Kaiden Stewart, Landon Stewart, and Cami Stewart, Dylan and Dalton Jones,and one on the way, Levi Colby Stewart, as well as a special nephew Danny Stewart.
He is preceded in death by his wife Irene Stewart of 62 years, one son Larry Wayne Stewart, one grandson Charles Wayne "Chuck" Stewart, and the following brothers and sisters: Obi Stewart, Carlo Stewart, Anderson Stewart, Cora France, Magdaline France, and Florence Stewart.
The funeral service for Elbert Stewart will be held 1 PM Saturday at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Sill Lee, Carl Henson, Dudley Lynch, and Wilburn Coffee officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart-Smith Cemetery at Horse Creek. Visitation will be after 6 PM Friday at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel.
