Illegal Dump investigation in Clay County

Manchester, Ky. (Oct. 1, 2019) - The Clay County Solid Waste & Animal Control Department is reporting that: On September 27, 2019 at around 12:30 PM the agency received a phone call with the caller informing Solid Waste Coordinator Tony Craft and Assistant Coordinator James Baker about a rather large pile of old furniture and trash alongside a local river bank.

DUMP

Upon arrival it was determined that an individual(s) had thrown out the garbage on the Goose Creek River bank in the Jacks Branch area of Clay County.

Littering in Kentucky is a very serious violation and especially so around waterways.

Those that are caught face harsh penalties and possible jail time.

Clay County Solid Waste & Animal Control has worked very hard this year trying to keep the county clean for residents and tourists.

So far in 2019 the agency has cleaned:

  • 71 county roads, producing 16.840 lbs. of roadside litter
  • 29 illegal dump sites, removing 13.650 lbs. of trash
  • An uncounted large amount of tires from throughout the county

Keep Clay County clean!

Clay County Solid Waste & Clay County Animal Control is asking everyone to please show your PRIDE in Clay County by using a pickup service or taking trash to the local transfer station which is very cost efficient and much cheaper than a fine or worse from getting a ticket.

The above mentioned dump has been cleaned up but the investigation is ongoing.

Information regarding illegal dumping or violators can be reported by calling  (606)-598-1281.

Thank you from the Clay County Solid Waste & Animal Control Department!
