Disturbance complaint leads to Drug arrest in Flat Lick

FLAT LICK, KY (Tuesday, October 22, 2019) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Sunday, October 20, 2019 Knox County Deputies Bobby Jones and Sam Mullins responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Summit Drive in Flat Lick.

rifleAfter making contact with the occupants at the residence, deputies observed a small plastic bag containing suspected Methamphetamine, a plastic bag of suspected Marijuana, a set of digital scales and several tablets including Hydrocodone and Gabapentin.

Deputies also located a rifle with a suppressor attached to the barrel.

Arrested was:

Donnie L Helton age 48 of Flat Lick, KY charged  with:

  • Trafficking in Marijuana
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree
  • Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Menacing
  • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.

An agent with ATF has met with the deputies and has agreed to adopt a case on the illegal suppressor.

Donnie Helton was also wanted on a Whitley County Bench Warrant for:

  • Failure to appear for sentencing on Trafficking Controlled Substance-1st Degree
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-2nd Degree
  • Possession of Controlled Substance-3rd Degree
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Donnie Helton was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
