FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 5, 2020) – Secretary of State Michael Adams, represented by Attorney General Daniel Cameron, has filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the Court to review the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals’ decision striking down Arizona’s prohibition on ballot harvesting. Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin and Missouri Secretary of State John “Jay” Ashcroft joined the brief.
“I am grateful to Attorney General Cameron for joining me in promoting ballot integrity, here in Kentucky and all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court,” Adams said. “With our joint Ballot Integrity Task Force here at home, we are monitoring the June 23 election to ensure it is free and fair. With this brief he has provided on my behalf, we are asking the Supreme Court to review the Ninth Circuit’s decision striking down a state law that prohibits ballot harvesting. Ballot harvesting enables vote fraud; it is illegal here in Kentucky, and it should stay that way. That’s why Louisiana and Missouri’s chief election officials joined this excellent brief authored by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.”
