LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler along with Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Travis Napier, and Deputy Jamie Etherton arrested Dione K. Napier age 58 of London on Wednesday evening June 17, 2020 at approximately 5:19 PM.
The arrest occurred off Chaney Ridge Road, approximately 3 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a possible domestic dispute in progress. While enroute deputies learned that allegedly neighbors had heard glass breaking and screaming there.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies noted finding a broken window and glass on a concrete porch floor there. Deputies conducted an investigation and learned that allegedly this individual had pinned a female victim there against the wall placing both hands around her throat applying pressure causing difficulty in breathing and making her dizzy like she was going to pass out.
Deputies noted visible injuries on the female victim. In addition, allegedly this individual had kicked the female victim with steel toed boots. Also the female victim reported that this male subject had threatened her that if she told on him he would have an individual kill her.
Deputies also learned there was an outstanding indictment warrant on this male subject.
Dione Napier was charged with:
- Strangulation – first-degree
- Tampering with a witness
- Terroristic threatening – third-degree
- Assault – 4th degree
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel circuit indictment warrant of arrest charging:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – fourth offense
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense
- Persistent felony offender I
- No registration plates
- Failure to wear seatbelts
- Failure of nonowner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
