LONDON, KY (October 2, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's detectives, deputies, and bailiff's arrested 14 individuals overnight October 1, 2020 while conducting drug investigations all over Laurel County.
Areas of arrests included: Swiss Colony Lane, GOP Street in London, West Laurel Rd., KY 1394, East 4th St. in London, Johnson Rd., North Laurel Road, and East Laurel Rd. Sheriff's investigators found:
- Large quantities of Meth
- Suboxone
- Hydrocodone
- Digital scales
- Baggies
- Glass pipes
- Needles
- Cut straws with residue
In addition, deputies located a parole violator and a subject wanted on an outstanding warrant.
At one location four underage grandchildren were found in a residence where trafficking meth was charged. At this location, a female subject attempted to ingest a large amount of meth however investigators were able to retrieve the bag.

Reva Moore age 52 of Swiss Colony Ln., London arrested off Swiss Colony Lane charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Four counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree
- Resisting arrest
Aaron Keith Simpson age 34 of Somerset Rd., London arrested off GOP Street in London in a red Chevrolet Camaro charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
- Possession of Marijuana
Chris Cornett age 47 of West Laurel Rd., London arrested off W. Laurel Rd. charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
Emily Helton age 27 of Highway 1394, East Bernstadt arrested off KY 1394 charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Jordan Glancy age 30 of Highway 1394, East Bernstadt arrested off KY 1394 charged with:
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
- Possession of Marijuana
Kenneth Glancy age 53 of Highway 1394, East Bernstadt arrested off KY 1394 charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Tommy Francis age 31 of Byble Rd., London arrested off E. 4th St. in London charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Dale Burkhart age 55 of Hensley Rd., East Bernstadt charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest regarding an investigation conducted by Laurel Sheriff's Detective Bryon Lawson charging:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Angela King age 55 of Portersburg Rd., Manchester charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
Ivy Bryant age 30 of Johnson Rd., London arrested off Johnson Road charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Vincent King age 53 of Johnson Rd., London arrested off Johnson Road charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Marty Stewart age 43 of Copely Rd., London arrested off N. Laurel Rd. charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense
- Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense
In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky parole board parole violation warrant charging:
- Absconding parole supervision
- Receiving misdemeanor conviction for assault
- Failure to report change of home address to parole officer
- Failure to make restitution as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel, Pulaski, and Knox Circuit Court on charges of:
1. Manufacturing Methamphetamine first offense
2. Burglary first-degree
3. Burglary first-degree
4. Receiving stolen property more than $10,000
David Nantz age 32 of McWhorter Road, London arrested off North Laurel Rd. charged with:
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
- Public intoxication – Controlled substances
Jonathan D. Smith age 48 of Hillary Ln., London arrested off East Laurel Rd. charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence
- Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense
All 14 individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root (left) stated that as the “War on Drugs” continues in Laurel County if individuals are selling drugs in Laurel County, they can expect a visit from investigators of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office in the near future.
