SEIZURE: Suspect apprehended with Methamphetamine, Pills after fleeing “Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force” in London, KY

LONDON, KY (May 4, 2023) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson announce that: Following a short term investigation by the “Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force”, a drug trafficking arrest warrant was issued for a Laurel County resident.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, Task Force officers attempted to serve the arrest warrant on the accused Kareem Hamdiyah age 44 at his residence off Collett Lane in London, KY.

When officers announced themselves, Hamdiyah attempted to flee on foot and briefly struggled with officers before being taken into custody.

Task Force officers determined that as the accused fled on foot he concealed evidence in the trash can outside his residence.

The accused was found in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine and pills.

Kareem Hamdiyah was charged on a Laurel District Court complaint warrant obtained by officers of the “Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force” charging:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – opiates

Additionally, this subject was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Resisting arrest
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Tampering with physical evidence

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
