WEST LIBERTY, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that on Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, KSP Post 8, Morehead received a call for assistance from Morgan County Dispatch. KSP was advised that an assault had occurred on Redwine Road.
Through the investigation, it was determined that Jeremy Schraufnagel and Shannon Dustin, both from West Liberty, KY had been in a verbal altercation.
Upon their arrival, KSP troopers located Ms. Dustin deceased inside the residence.
Morgan County Coroner Shawn Vancleve pronounced Ms. Dustin deceased.
JEREMY EDWARD SCHRAUFNAGEL, age 49 was arrested and charged with:
- MURDER
- FETAL HOMICIDE, 1ST DEGREE
This individual was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center.

KSP was assisted by Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, West Liberty Police Department, Morgan County EMS, and Morgan County Coroner’s Office.
This incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
