LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Roberts arrested two individuals on Thursday evening August 8 2024 at approximately 6:49 PM.
The arrests occurred on S. Laurel Rd. (Hwy-25) approximately 1 mile South of London following a traffic stop conducted on a black BMW that had no registration plates or insurance.
During the stop Deputy Roberts detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from both the driver and passenger and conducted an investigation determining that both were under the influence.
During the arrests both individuals were found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. In addition, both individuals were determined to be wanted on outstanding warrants.
The two arrested individuals were identified as: The driver, Robert Lee Wright, age 44 of Lily, KY and the passenger, Ronald Wright age 67 of Middletown, Ohio.
Robert Wright was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- No registration plates
- Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Failure to appear in court
Ronald Wright was charged with:
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
- Possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
In addition, this individual was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court.
Also, the subject was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Nonpayment of court costs
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
