SIDNEY, KY – According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, KSP Post 9, Pikeville received a call regarding a shooting in the Sidney community of Pike County.
KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on North Big Creek Road where they discovered one subject had been shot.
The initial investigation indicated William Chaney, 41 years old of Pikeville, KY suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Coroner’s Office. This investigation will be presented to the Pike County Grand Jury for consideration.
Detective Joshua Scott is leading the investigation. He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel and Appalachian First Response Ambulance Service.
