Driver, Passenger Enroute to FL Arrested in Madison Co., KY with People Secured in Rear of U-Haul

RICHMOND, KY - The Madison County Sheriff’s Office received a Suspicious Activity call for service at approximately 8:00 on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, regarding a U-Haul cargo truck parked at a gas pump at Love’s Truck Stop. The caller stated that he had observed the rear cargo compartment of the U-Haul cargo truck “full of kids.”

Deputy Kermeen & Deputy Dolen responded and made contact with the driver and passenger of the U-Haul. Throughout the course of that initial contact, six additional persons were located in the secured and unventilated, rear cargo compartment of the U-Haul; three adults and three juveniles.

Throughout the course of the on-scene investigation it was determined that all eight persons were enroute from Michigan to Florida; during which time six of the eight persons were secured in the unventilated rear cargo compartment of the U-Haul.

Deputy Kermeen was assisted on scene by HSI MCSO Detective Gatson, Deputy Foster, the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) and the Madison County Animal Shelter.

The following arrests were made as a result of the investigation:

Brandon Campbell charged with:

  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree - 7 Counts

Heather Campbell charged with:

  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree - 3 Counts

Liana Robertson: (Not Pictured) charged with:

  • Attempted Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree - 6 Counts
