LSO Deputies make 4 arrests after observing Disturbance in a business parking lot

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Larry Parrott along with Deputy Shawn Jackson and Deputy Shannon Jones arrested four individuals off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 11 miles south of London early Friday morning September 30, 2016 at approximately 4:47 AM.

The arrests occurred after deputies observed a disturbance in a business parking lot there and conducted an investigation determining that the driver of a tan colored Toyota Voyager was under the influence along with two other passengers also determined to be under the influence and a third passenger that had an outstanding warrant of arrest.

Deputies identified those arrested as:

  • Driver - Derek Gilbert age 25 of Palmer St., Corbin – this subject admitted to smoking methamphetamine earlier and was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; operating on suspended or revoked operators license; and failure to wear seatbelts.
  • Passenger - Nathan Humphrey age 37 of South Hwy. 1629, Corbin charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place-- this subject stated that he had came to the business to get gas and cigarettes.
  • Passenger - Sylvia Garland age of 28 S. Hwy. 1629, Corbin charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place – this subject stated she had came to the business to get gas and cigarettes.
  • Passenger -  Shawn Young age 36 of Hubbard St., Corbin charged on a Knox County warrant of arrest charging terroristic threatening – third-degree. This subject was also charged on a Jefferson County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of drinking alcoholic beverages in a public place.
  • All 4 individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
