Virginia Lorene Hammons was born May 18, 1944 in Laurel County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Andy and Lucy Ivey Robinson. She was united in marriage to the late John Jay Hammons.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one child, Ella Marie Hammons; three sisters, Irene Powell, Norma Jean Powell, and August Jean Robinson; two brothers, Troy Robinson and John Robinson; and one brother in law, Chester Newby.
She is survived by four children: Bill Hammons and wife Geraldine and Tim Hammons and wife Heather, all of London, and Ernestine “Tina” Baker and husband Forester Jr. and Rhonda Mullins all of Keavy; five siblings: Robert Robinson and wife Bonnie, Nina Newby, Pam Woods and husband Carl, and Barbara Bruner all of London, and Jr. Robinson and wife Ella of Hazard, Kentucky; one sister-in-law Leota Robinson of London; two brother-in-laws Ed Powell and Randall Powell both of London; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Jamie Baker and wife Heather and their two children Lilli Mae and Forester of Franklin, Indiana, Travis Baker and wife Lacy and their two children Eden and Moses of Greenville, South Carolina, Kelly Day and husband Bobby and their four children Taylor, Jimmy, Briana, and Jesse of Corbin, Kentucky, Jessica Lipps and husband Shane and their three children McKenzie, Brooklyn, and John of Keavy, Kentucky, Justin Hammons of London, Kentucky, Tiffany Cox and husband Josh and their two children Jaylee and Zoey of Gray, Kentucky, and Travis Mullins of Keavy, Kentucky; plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her passing.
She was a member of Pleasant Springs Church.
Virginia Lorene Hammons departed this life Sunday, May 24, 2020 being 76 years and 6 days of age.
Funeral services for Virginia Lorene Hammons will be conducted at 2:00 Saturday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Forester Baker Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Rough Creek Cemetery in London.
The family of Virginia Lorene Hammons will receive friends after 6:00 Friday at Bowling Funeral Home.
