Attorney General Daniel Cameron
FRANKFORT, KY – Attorney General Daniel Cameron on Thursday announced two appointments to his executive team. Rewa Zakharia has been appointed as Director of the Office of Special Prosecutions and Robyn Diez d'Aux has been appointed as Director of the Office of Victims Advocacy.
Zakharia currently serves as the Special Victims' Prosecutor within the Office of Trafficking and Abuse Prevention and Prosecution, where she specializes in the prosecution of cases involving child abuse and sexual assault and provides training regarding special victim cases, investigations, and constitutional law. As Director of the Office of Special Prosecutions, Rewa will oversee the prosecution of criminal cases, assist state prosecutors upon request, and manage the investigation and prosecution of suspected election law violations, environmental crimes, and ethics law violations.
"During her time with our office, Rewa has continually demonstrated her commitment to seeking justice on behalf of the most vulnerable, and I'm thankful that she has agreed to step into a new role as Director of the Office of Special Prosecutions," said Attorney General Cameron. "Her experience prosecuting complex cases will continue to aid our office as we work to keep communities safe and support prosecutors across the Commonwealth."
Diez d'Aux currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Victims Advocacy. She previously served as the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) program manager within the Attorney General's Office and coordinated the completion of Kentucky's previously untested SAFE kits. In this role, she helped secure a $2 million grant from the Department of Justice to provide training and technical assistance to criminal justice professionals working to improve sexual assault response in Kentucky.
"Robyn is a tireless advocate for Kentucky crime victims and has overseen statewide efforts to strengthen victims' services and provide direct assistance to victim service agencies," said Attorney General Cameron. "We are grateful to have her championing our efforts to assist victims and improve victim-centered investigations and prosecutions."
Diez d'Aux's and Zakharia's appointments are effective immediately.
Diez d' Aux previously worked at the Justice & Public Safety Cabinet where she was a grant manager for the STOP Violence Against Women, Victims of Crime Act, and Sexual Assault Services Program funding for the Commonwealth. After 15 years in both public and private sectors, Diez d' Aux has experience in federal grant administration, program development and implementation, direct victim services, and training and technical assistance for victim service agencies and allied professionals. She holds a Master's Degree from the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, and a Bachelor's in Communications from the University of Kentucky.
Zakharia has been with the Attorney General's office since November 2019 and previously served under Ray Larson and Lou Anna Red Corn as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the 22nd Judicial Circuit. In this role, she served as a felony prosecutor in the Special Victim's Unit and prosecuted homicide, human trafficking, child abuse, sex crimes, and violent offender cases. As an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney, Zakharia tried what is believed to be the first labor trafficking case in Kentucky. Born and raised in Hamat, Lebanon, she attended the Charlotte School of Law and earned her bachelor's degree in Business Finance from Transylvania University. Zakharia lives in Fayette County with her husband.
