LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: On Monday, December 18, 2023, the London-Laurel County Communications Center received a call from a male subject indicating that he had received a call from a friend, living in Laurel County, that he had shot his girlfriend.
Deputies were immediately dispatched to the residence, which is just north of the city limits near the Hal Rogers Parkway. Initial responding units could not see or hear any activity from the residence and requested additional units.
The Laurel County Special Response Team, arrived on the scene and after obtaining a search warrant, made entry into the residence.
Once inside the residence, a female, age 47, was located in the master bedroom with an apparent gunshot wound to the face area.
A male subject, age 49, was also located inside the same bedroom with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
The Laurel County Sheriff's Office stated that, identifications will be released when proper notifications are made.
At the time of this publishing, ClayCoNews has not received the identifications from the Sheriff's Office, however the the Sentinel-Echo in London is reporting that the Laurel County Coroner's Office has released the names of the victims as, Debra Meece and Douglas Mutters, both of London.
Captain Richard Dalrymple and Detective Hunter Disney are leading the investigation.
Assisting at the scene were deputies and officers from the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, London Police Department and the Laurel County Coroner's Office.
