No one will argue that the past year and a half have been a challenge for all of us, but there is no possible way we, as a society, can give enough thanks to those that have been at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic. The selfless drive among frontline workers to work countless hours has been nothing short of remarkable.

In my opinion, the Veterans in the Hoskins Cemetery, which is over one hundred twenty-five (125) years old, should be allowed to Rest in Peace in the plots selected by them or their family members as their Final Resting Place. I am a retired Veteran with thirty seven (37) years of military service in the United States Army Medical Corp as a Combat Medic. I am the son of Ernest Christopher Peters, a Veteran of Korea and Vietnam, who retired with twenty-one (21) years of military service. As a member of the United States Army Medical Corp, I have seen death and have had extensive training on the proper handling disposition, transportation, and regulations regarding funeral and burial services.

School is back in session. New classrooms, new supplies and new teachers bring a feeling of opportunity, and maybe a little anxiety too.

A great deal has been said about the immorality and disrespect of moving the remains of people who left this world with the peace of mind knowing where their earthly remains would rest, and yes, REST IN PEACE. But what does that mean if we can’t depend on it to be respected into perpetuity?
